Four paws for Kai
Because every young person deserves a place in the world
At first glance, Kai seems like many others: a bright, interested young person.
But Kai lives on the autism spectrum.
This means that many everyday things that are easy for others feel difficult for him.
- Meet up with friends? Often not possible.
- Shopping or going to the doctor? Only with an escort.
- Independence in everyday life? A daily challenge.
Kai’s world became smaller and smaller, especially during the coronavirus lockdown.
He withdrew. He lacked security, courage and the drive to try something new.
An assistance dog for Kai
Kai’s family decided to seek support – and train an assistance dog.
A dog like this is more than just a friend:
- It recognizes stress or excessive demands at an early stage
- Gives Kai support in difficult situations
- Remains present when Kai wants to withdraw
- Supports everyday life and boosts self-confidence
Of course they also play and cuddle. But the focus is on safety, structure – and a real connection.
Because Kai has a big goal:
“I want to pass my A-levels, then go to university – and grow up with a real friend by my side.”
How you can help
The complete training of an assistance dog costs between €45,000 and €60,000.
Included are:
- Selecting & raising a suitable dog
- Specialized training according to international standards (ADI)
- Individual adaptation to Kai’s needs
- Months of training with Kai and his family
- Long-term aftercare
The family cannot raise this amount alone. But together we can support Kai on his journey.
