A new life for Tobias

A new life - with support on four paws

Tobias lives with ME/CFS – myalgic encephalomyelitis, also known as chronic fatigue syndrome. The illness began after a viral infection. Since then, everything has changed.

When even life is too much

Tobias has been unable to work for over a year. Meeting up with friends, going for a walk, shopping or visiting a café – all of these things were hardly possible before his assistance dog Leo came into his life.
ME/CFS means: extreme exhaustion, sensitivity to light and sound and the feeling of being trapped in your own body.

Even small efforts can trigger a “crash” – days, sometimes weeks of complete exhaustion.

Leo brings hope and support

But there is help – on four paws.
Today, Leo, a specially trained assistance dog, helps her in everyday life. He provides support, can take on small tasks – and is one thing above all: Leo is always there.

The Labrador is strong enough to help Tobias walk: “Leo doesn’t just give me help – he gives me hope,” says Tobias.

The regional magazine buten un binnen made a documentary about the two of them. Thanks to people like you, Tobais can now lead a self-determined life again.
