An epilepsy assistance dog for Zoe

Zoe is 2 years old and lives with her family in Ostwestfalen-Lippe. She has lived with epilepsy since birth – a condition that severely restricts her everyday life.

So that Zoe can grow up safer and more carefree, she is to have an assistance dog at her side:

A dog that recognizes seizures early, fetches help, calms – and is simply there.

Why an assistance dog?

A specially trained dog can:

  • Recognize seizures at an early stage
  • Get help and bring specific items (e.g. medication, cell phone)
  • Accompany Zoe through a seizure with certain gestures
  • Providing security – for Zoe and her parents
  • Giving comfort, closeness and trust – every day

The financing

The purchase, care and training of the dog will cost a total of around €27,800.

Of this, € 23,000 has already been raised (as of June 22, 2025).

We would also like to continue to support Zoe and her family after the team test.
We are raising a further €6,000 for this.

A word from Zoe's parents

“An assistance dog performs many important tasks – but above all it is a lifesaver.
He is Zoe’s friend, her companion, her safety.
And perhaps the reason why we can sleep peacefully at night again.

Unfortunately, health insurance does not cover the costs.
Nevertheless, we would like to go down this path – for Zoe.
Every donation helps.”

How you can help

  • One-off donation: Every contribution counts
  • Permanent donation from €5/month: For ongoing care and supplies
  • Spread the word: Share Zoe’s story with your friends and family

Together with you, with experienced trainers, loving sponsor families, selected breeders and under the guidance of expert Katharina Küsters (BDSF e. V.) we can go this way.

Help us make Zoe's eyes light up

We have set up a fundraising campaign for the two-year-old on Betterplace, Germany's largest donation platform:
