In January 2024, we received certification from the German Society for Prequalification in Healthcare (DGP GmbH) as an assistance dog training center in the areas of mobility assistance dogs, alert & warning dogs and PSB assistance dogs in both training variants (external training and self-training). On 20.03.2024, we learned that DGP GmbH has returned its approval and our certificate has therefore also expired. We are in close contact with the responsible Federal Ministry. We received an email from them on 21.03.204 explaining the situation once again. Here is an excerpt from the BMAS email to us: “… DGP GmbH has informed us at short notice that it has returned its accreditation as a technical body for the approval of training centers with effect from 15.04.2024. The BMAS was just as surprised by this information as you were. The BMAS is currently working on and examining solutions for how to handle the accreditation of training centers in the future. As there is currently no possibility of certification by a specialist body, the following applies:

Non-certified training centers can continue to provide training until they are approved by a new technical body or other approval regulations.

Please note that since the AHundV came into force, any training that has been or will be started from March 1, 2023 must be completed in accordance with the training contents of Annex 4 of the AHundV. This information will also be posted on the BMAS/Assistance Dogs website. We ask you to use your networks to send possible queries to the BMAS in a bundled form. Answering individual inquiries ties up time that we currently need to work on solutions and new regulations. Beyond that, we cannot provide any information that concerns DGP GmbH…”.
